Lead Line Cook

About the Role

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading and managing all kitchen staff including Line Cooks and Prep Cooks. 

  • Manage the daily operation of the kitchen with a hands-on approach always ensuring quality of product and consistency in presentation / flavor.

  • Work side-by-side with the Kitchen Staff to properly manage all day-to-day situations.

  • Work with our vendors to complete weekly ordering. Maintain a high quality of goods and availability of goods for the restaurant and catering. 

  • Creating a favorable and engaging work environment by encouraging and listening to the team as you collectively work to enhance the offerings.

  • Assist in the planning and development of menus for the restaurant and catering; ensure the correct preparation and presentation of a consistent level for all food items prepared through production and demonstration.

  • Assist on the line in making of per order fresh sandwiches, salads, flatbreads, and more

  • Maintain a clean and well-organized work station both during service and at the end of shift

  • Establish, delegate, and assist in daily prep of ingredients for menu items. Ie: marinate & cook meats, make spreads & vinaigrettes, and more

  • Assist in planning and preparing both in-house and pick-up catering orders

  • Communicate with all front-of-the-house staff, food runners/servers and communicate daily specials, menu changes, food allergens to them.

Important Skills for This Position:

  • Ideal applicant would have 5+ years’ experience in a position in the culinary industry

  • Ideal applicant would have 2+ years’ in management position in the culinary industry.

  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and retain a team.

  • Ability to work a variety of shifts including weekends, days, afternoons, evenings, and holidays.

  • Think quickly, multitask, and adapt to changing situations while maintaining the highest quality of product and standards.

  • ServSafe Food Safety Handler certifications and Allergen Awareness required.

  • Ability to work efficiently based on priorities, willingness to take direction, initiative, and constructive criticism

  • Poses organization skills to coordinate daily responsibilities and communicate clearly with team members

  • Ability to stand for 8-10 hours and lift 50 pounds

  • Reliability and punctuality

  • Sense of humor and a positive attitude

  • Dedication to assigned work shifts, balancing outside personal matters with work

You will be working with a team of 5-7 employees and directly with the Owner. Compensation is being offered starting at $26/hour. Team member will also receive 1 week paid vacation to be used during that calendar year. Vacation time does not accrue. All employees get a 20% discount on all items we sell and vegetables we grow are free if they are in good supply. Depending on experience, employees that perform well will be rewarded. All new employees will be hired on a two-week trial basis.

Farm Stand: Open 10am-4pm every-other Fri & Sat starting December 5th 

Ice Cream: closed for the season
Farmer's Porch: Closed for the season
