SPRING 2009
Almost all the plants are in the ground now, at least the first plantings. We will continue to plant through October believe it or not. Everything is growing well, the lettuce is beautiful, our garlic is making its scapes and radishes are the size of a healthy beet.
Our crew is working very hard. It's fun to see the kids that started here at the farm picking peas and beans are now young college students running tractors as well as the mechanical transplanter and flamer(weeding device). I'm sure their parents are enjoying the fact that they go home dead tired, unable to get off the couch to go out at night.
On June 13 at 3:00p.m., "Edible Wild Plants of the Northeast", a nature walk with natualist John Root, will be offered at the farm. Wild food samples will be offered, and pamplets will be distributed to the participants. Free to all ages. The program is supported by a grant from the Millis Cultural Council.
U-pick strawberries will not be available this year. We will have local berries available in the farm stand starting the week of June 15.
